Do you fancy being a statistical analyst or data scientist in HMRC?

HMRC is one of the best paying departments across government and has a significant analytical directorate (over 300 trained professionals) leading on a host of exciting areas of work; from the operational support to HMRC through to providing the critical analytical advice to HM Treasury for policy decisions on tax. We will shortly be advertising on the civil service website for skilled professionals to join us.

As a statistical analyst you will develop close working relationships with other analysts across different professions (economist, social and operational researchers) and with policy and operational colleagues. In your role you can expect to get involved with the delivery of our statistics; as we publish loads of them (over 100), across our areas of tax which we collect and tax credits which we pay out. See a list of our statistics on the GOV.UK website.

Alongside that, you may also typically get involved with delivering and supporting analysis for the policy decisions for HMRC and HM Treasury for the Autumn Statement and Budget.

With the skills of a data scientist, in joining our statistical group, you can expect to exploit your data skills further through exploring and interpret HMRC and external data sources using leading predictive analytics to provide insight on customer behaviour patterns and likely future trends for compliance.

We are mainly based in London, but also have opportunities in the North West (Liverpool and Manchester) and Southend. Further details of the launch of the campaign will appear here in the next couple of months.
